Members of the International Herald Tribune staff bought space in their own newspaper Saturday to protest a prospective advertising campaign by the Church of Scientology and say it did not reflect the daily's values.

The protesters said they wanted "to emphasize their moral disagreement with the Scientology advertisement placed in yesterday's newspaper." The note was paid for by members of the newspaper's staff in Paris, Frankfurt and Zurich, followed a Scientology three-quarters of a page advertisement.
