Scientology lawyers routinely contact critics alleging copyright infringement, trademark violations, and dissemination of trade secrets. By threatening legal action - often with no intention of following through - they sometimes silence legitimate criticism. (In other cases, critics ignore the threats or respond in other ways while continuing to speak out.)

This list represents a small fraction of Scientology's legal threats and allegations. To get an idea of how many have been reported on the Internet, try searching Google and Google Groups ... and keep in mind that some threats of legal action have not been publicized on the web.
