OT I
OT I, or Operating Thetan level I, is the first of the eight Operating Thetan levels. It involves observing other people in various ways until you have a realization (or cognition) about each one.
The advertised ability gained from OT I is "A fresh, causative OT viewpoint of the MEST universe and other beings". One magazine claims the state is "normally accompanied by a new level of exteriorization." (Auditor 210)
Before starting OT I, a Scientologist must complete OT Preps and pass OT Eligibility. OT I is part of the Non-Interference Area - between OT I and OT III, certain services are off-limits to Scientologists.
How Long and How Much?
According to a 2006 price list, New OT I costs $2120 US. (That's the rate for IAS members; it's highly likely that anyone at this level will be a member of the IAS.)
I can't find a good reference, from Scientology or elsewhere, regarding how long it usually takes to finish OT I.
