Ava Paquette

Ava Paquette is a Scientology attorney who has threatened legal action against a number of critics' web sites. She falsely claimed that the Truth About Scientology website (www.truthaboutscientology.com) violated Scientology's copyrights by publishing information from lists of course completions in Scientology magazines; such information is not copyrightable in the United States. Her bogus complaint only took the information offline for a few days; it has since been restored without further threat of legal action. By inappropriately mingling trademark infringement claims with copyright infringement claims, Paquette briefly persuaded Google to delist several pages of the Operation Clambake website. Again, those pages were restored to Google's search results after her claims were examined more closely.
