Albert Jaquier was a high-level Scientologist. Despite having attested to OT VII, he was sick, impoverished, and miserable when he died. His diary records the distress he experienced at the end of his life - the broken promises of other Scientologists and the lack of compassion from those around him, including his son.

July 23, 1989Scientologist Jody Darling, Scientologist Albert Jaquier. It, lengthy, Jaquier Scientologist Jody Darling creates a proposal for fellow Scientologist Albert Jaquier. It is a lengthy, handwritten document asking Jaquier to "invest" in Pacific Training Systems. Included was one whole page detailing his Scientology credentials and naming CofS officials who could vouch for him. In the proposal he promised annual profits of 18-25% on the investment, quote " Our investment options give a return on the order of 18-25%". The proposal was in French since Albert did not speak English. Jaquier agrees to "invest" $200,000; $100,000 as purchase of "stock" and $100,000 as a loan at 21.6% interest (interest rate suggested by Darling). A contract will be signed on 5 August 1989, and Albert will arrange to transfer the money from Switzerland.

According to Jaquier's ex-wife: "The fax header, and fax # he gives, are those of the INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF SCIENTOLOGISTS(IAS). This is very relevant because it indicates the possibility that the money, or part of it, was in fact going to IAS. It is absolutely forbidden, by Hubbard policy, to use the equipment of Scientology organizations(orgs) for ANYTHING other than "org business". It is also forbidden to transact ANY private business deals on the property of Flag Service Organization, Inc.(FSO). The ONLY reason it would be acceptable to IAS for Darling to use their office and equipment would be if they benefitted from his doing so."

In it, he proposes paying interest owed on the loan as a "business consulting fee," thus evading taxes.

Albert Jaquier;, Darling's company Heber Jentzsch congratulates Jody Darling on becoming a Patron Meritorious by donating an additional $150,000 to Scientology; a photo appears in Impact magazine (issue 28). The money came from Albert Jaquier; it was supposed to be used as business loans and invested in stock in Darling's company. Darling never repaid the money to Jaquier, as he had promised.

This is significant because Darling had received $200,000 from Jaquier, as a loan and to invest in Darling's company ... but instead Darling donated the money to Scientology in exchange for Patron Meritorious status.

May 18, 1991Scientologist Jody Darling, Scientologist Albert Jaquier, Albert Scientologist Jody Darling, already in debt to Scientologist Albert Jaquier, sends Albert a copy of a "Letter of Intent" signed by Darling and someone called John Hetherington, "Chairman of the Board". This letter appears to describe a very attractive agreement to purchase 85% of Pacific Training Systems but does not state who will be the purchaser and does not state what "Board" Hetherington is "chairman of".
