INVESTIGATIVE REPORT
This investigative report is regarding investigative assistance provided by the Florida Department
of Law Enforcement (FDLE) to the Clearwater Police Department (CPD) who are investigating the
suspicious death of LISA McPHERSON W/F 02/10/1959.
On Monday 10 March 1997 at approximately 1100 hours Special Agent (SA) Sharon L. Feola
conducted an interview with prior employee of AMC Publishing Company, Anita MOTLEY. Mrs.
MOTLEY has relocated to Des Plains, Illinois where MOTLEY currently resides with her husband,
Michael Motley. Prior to moving to Illinois, MOTLEY was employed by AMC Publishing during the
time of Lisa McPHERSON's suspicious death. SA Feola conducted a telephone interview with
Anita MOTLEY.
In substance, ANITA MOTLEY, made the following statement:
ANITA MOTLEY stated she was employed as a graphic artist for AMC Publishing from January
1995 until March 1996. MOTLEY stated she signed an employment contract with AMC
Publishing for the time frame listed above. MOThEY stated she went on maternity leave during
the month March 1996 and did not return to work until July 1996, for a few weeks. MOTLEY
stated she did not work directly with LISA McPHERSON as they worked in different departments
and the business has approximately twenty employees. Additionally, MOTLEY stated she had no
social contact with McPHERSON nor did she attend the memorial service at Flag (Church of
Scientology). MOTLEY did not have any information surrounding the facts and circumstances of
the McPHERSON death and MOTLEY stated she was not given an explanation for the death. Owing
to the fact MOTLEY had limited contact with McPHERSON she had no information pertinent to
this investigation.
Lastly, MOTLEY stated she was an active member of the Church of Scientology while living in the
Clearwater area. Since relocating to Des Plains, MOTLEY has not attended any church
programs nor has she had any contact with any individuals associated with AMC Publishing.
MOTLEY stated McPHERSON was friends with AMC Publishing owner Benetta Slaughter and
co-worker Brenda Hubert.
